Earn up to 29 500 points to help get your vitality status to GOLD!!

We organize days where Vitality members can do all their tests in less than 90 minutes. The aim is that members upgrade their status during a short period of time. A timesheet is set up where the members see the biokineticist, dietitian and do blood tests. We are also willing to go to companies to do the tests.

Vitality fitness assessment:

Earn up to 7 500 Vitality points by completing a Vitality Fitness Assessment, based on your fitness level and other factors. You will earn 2 500 base points and up to 5 000 bonus fitness points (depending on your fitness level). You can do two assessments per year, at least five months apart. Points reflect on your vitality points monitor after a week and the 2 500 base points count towards your 15 000 annual maximum fitness points.
The cost is R250 which Discovery Health members can claim back if you have a Medical Savings Account with available funds. If you’re a Discovery Life member you can’t claim back.

The assessment includes:

* Your measurements such as weight, height (to calculate BMI*), waist circumference and body fat percentage
* A step test followed by functional tests and flexibility tests

Vitality nutrition consultation:

The Vitality Nutrition consultations consist of three 30-minute consultations with your dietician. It is not compulsory to attend all three consultations. Vitality points will be awarded for each consultation separately.

Each Vitality Nutrition consultation costs R320 for each person. If you have a Discovery Health Plan with a Medical Savings Account and available funds, you can claim this amount back from the Scheme (if there is no waiting period). If you are a Discovery Life policyholder, you will not be able to claim.

Vitality members, 18 years and older, can earn up to 10 000 Vitality points for learning more about their eating habits at a Vitality Wellness Network dietitian. You will earn 5 000 Vitality points on your first visit, 2 500 Vitality points on your second visit and 2 500 Vitality points on your third visit.
If you have your weight assessed, you’ll earn 500 Vitality points. If you’re at a healthy body weight, you’ll earn 2 500 bonus points. Points for a weight assessment can only be earned once a year. If you do not earn bonus Vitality points, because you are not in a healthy range, you can have your weight assessed at any time after the consultation. Then, if you are within the healthy range, you will get your bonus points.
Your Vitality points will be automatically awarded and will show on your Vitality Points Monitor within a week. The dietitian will send us your results.

The vitality Blood tests:

Glucose test: All adults on Vitality earn 500 Vitality points by doing the test and 2 500 booster points if you're in the acceptable range. A glucose reading of less than 7.8 mmol/l  is within the acceptable range.
Cholesterol test: All adults on Vitality will earn 500 Vitality points by doing the test and 2 500 booster points if you're in the acceptable range. An acceptable score is less than 5 mmol/l.
Blood pressure: All adults on Vitality earn 500 Vitality points by doing the test and 2 500 booster points if you're in the acceptable range.

Discovery Health covers the cost of R160 once a year from your Screening Benefit for the Vitality Health Check. If you don’t have all the screening tests on the same day, you will have to pay for the tests you have later from your Medical Savings Account or your pocket. If you are a Discovery Life policyholder, you will need to pay for the Vitality Health Check yourself. If a waiting period applies to you or your family you can only use the Screening and Prevention Benefit when your waiting period expires.

If you have a second Vitality Health Check in a year, it will not be paid for from the Screening Benefit, but as a day-to-day expense. So, you will need to pay for it from your Medical savings Account or from your pocket, according to your Plan type and available benefits.

An HIV test can also be done on request which earns you 5000 points and costs R145 which is paid by Discovery medical aid from your discovery screening and prevention benefit if you are on Discovery. If you are a Discovery Life policyholder, you will need to pay for the Vitality Health Check yourself.

There is a R50 admin fee per person for all bookings.

Total costs for doing all test if you are on discovery medical aid: R570 (can be claimed back from savings) + R50 = R620
Total costs for doing all tests if you are only on vitality (Not discovery medical aid): R875 + R50 = R925

Please contact Ilani Richards, 082 556 7522, ilani.bekker@gmail.com for more info or to book an appointment. Please note that you don't have to do all the tests, you can book selectively if desired.
